HCL Technologies Named as One of Britain's Top Employers 2008

HCL Technologies Ltd (HCL), the global IT services company today announced it has been named by CRF UK, the independent business research organisation, as one of Britain’s Top Employers, 2008.

Selected for excellence in HR management, the 100 chosen companies will be published in a title by Guardian Books and in the newspaper’s online version. Finalists will be formally announced at an awards dinner on March 20^th , where the book will be launched. The book will contain company profiles of those selected, which will cover the company’s performance in relation to the assessment criteria and will offer commentary from the panel of advisors.

Companies were chosen based on dedication and innovation, the ability to create a culture and working environment in which the employee is appreciated and productive. When asked about HCL’s performance, Dominic Knight, Regional Director for UK, Ireland & Northern Europe, CRF said: What impressed us most was the self awareness HCL demonstrated in promoting development and motivation into the workforce, and the nitiatives used to do just that. These include: employee recognition programmes, excellence awards, high potential stock option plans, social nd sports clubs, ‘fun at work council’ and its online tools. Employee benefits were noted as thorough and the graduate programme and long term ervice awards display a healthy balance of gaining interest of fresh talent and retaining experienced staff over long periods.”

Rajeev Sawhney, President, HCL Europe commented, “we are very proud to have been selected as one of Britain’s Top Employers 2008, for the third year in a row. It highlights HCL Technologies’ belief that creating a working culture where employees are happy and motivated will lead to a successful business.”

The independent research process included desk research, analysis, the completion of a questionnaire and interviews with senior management and employees. Ramachandran Sundararajan, HR Director, HCL Europe, who was interviewed, said, “I was impressed by the interview process – it was in person and a very engaging process - it was exciting to see how interested the interviewer was in understanding HCL’s work in this space.”

The final section was then based on the following criteria for a top employer evaluation: pay and benefits, career development, corporate culture, diversity/equal opportunities and leadership, and for HR strategy evaluation: recruitment strategies, knowledge management and employee relations.
