Meet the Speakers of Sun Tech Days in Hyderabad
Sun Tech Days - going to be held in Hyderabadin last week of February - is the event which is being looked after very eagerly by many developers. Going to be held over 3 days, it will feature lectures and seminars from speakers who have tight hold over technology.
Lets have a look at the profile of the sprakers who will be enlightening the event through their well thought lectures and seminars :
- Rich Green
Executive Vice President, Software
Sun Microsystems, Inc.
Rich Green is responsible for the overall operational leadership of Sun's software division, which has delivered some of the computer industry's most innovative technologies and business models. Mr. Green oversees the Solaris Enterprise System, including the Solaris Operating System, the Java Enterprise System suites, N1 management software, Sun Studio and Java Studio developer tools. In addition, he leads a variety of industry-standards efforts and open source communities.
With more than 20 years of industry experience, Green has extraordinary insight into the evolution of developer platforms and enterprise software alike. He returned to Sun in May 2006 following two years as executive vice president of products at Cassatt Corporation, an enterprise software company focused on next generation system virtualization
Prior to Cassatt, Green spent 14 years at Sun where he led a variety of software initiatives. He was the vice president and general manager of Sun's combined Java organization where he led development, introducing business programs for Java EE, Java ME and JavaCard. He was responsible for the widespread adoption of Java SE via OEM bundling and Web download programs. As Sun's chief Java advocate, Green played an essential role in the company's negotiations leading to its landmark $1.6 billion settlement and 10-year collaboration agreement with Microsoft. Green also spearheaded the development of such critical technological advancements as Java Studio Creator and was instrumental in driving adoption for Sun's Java Virtual Machine software. Previously, Green served as vice president and general manager of the Solaris products organization.
- Ian Murdock
Chief OS Platform Strategist at Sun Microsystems and Chair of the Linux Standard Base (LSB), the Linux platform interoperability standard.
Prior to joining Sun, Ian was CTO of the Linux Foundation (formed through the merger of OSDL and the Free Standards Group, where he was CTO) and cofounder, chairman, and chief strategist of Progeny, a Linux distribution vendor that builds custom Linux platforms for companies building server appliances and other Linux powered products.
A longtime Linux user, developer, and advocate, Ian founded the Debian project in 1993. Today, Debian is one of the most popular Linux distributions in the world, with millions of users worldwide. Debian is also widely considered one of the most successful and influential open source projects ever launched: More than 1,000 volunteers in all parts of the world are currently involved in Debian development, and the founding document of the open source movement itself (the Open Source Definition) was originally a Debian position statement. Ian was also a founding director of Linux International (1993-1995) and the Open Source Initiative (1998-2001). Ian holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Purdue University.
- Jeet Kaul
Vice President of Developer Products and Programs
Sun Microsystems, Inc.
As Vice President of Developer Products and Programs, Jeet leads a worldwide organization which delivers tools and programs for developers, including the award-winning NetBeans and Sun Developer Network, and the record-setting Sun Studio compilers. Previously Jeet directed development of the JavaEE platform and the Sun Java Application Server. He spearheaded open-sourcing of the Java EE platform as part of the launch of the GlassFish community.
Jeet has more than 19 years of technical, entrepreneurial, and leadership experience in the computer industry. Jeet was a founder of Rocktide Incorporated in 2000, which was later acquired by NetObjects where he then served as Vice President of Engineering. Prior to Rocktide, he was a Chief Architect at BeyondNews, which was purchased by Inktomi for $90 million in 1999. Prior to BeyondNews, Jeet held senior technical and management positions at Apple Computer.
Jeet holds a Masters of Science Degree in Computer Engineering from Rice University in Houston, and a Bachelor of Engineering Degree with Honors from Birla Institute of Technology, India.
- Arun Gupta
Arun Gupta is a GlassFish Evangelist focusing on Web Services and "Web 2.0" Applications at Sun. He has over 11 years of experience in software industry working in various distributed computing technologies, Java™ platform, C++ and several web-related technologies. In his current role, he works very closely to create and foster the community around GlassFish and related technologies. GlassFish is a 100% open-source Java EE 5 compliant Application server from Sun Microsystems.
Arun was the specification lead for Java API for XML Web services (JAX-WS) in the Java platform. JAX-WS is the standard way to create and invoke Web services in the Java platform. Arun is a committer in multiple open source projects in the GlassFish community. He has participated in several standard bodies and worked amicably with members from other companies. Arun has been with the Java EE team since its inception. Since then he has contributed to all Java EE and several Java SE (JDK) releases.
- Sanjeev Bagewadi
Sanjeev is a Staff Engineer at India Engineering Center, Sun Microsystems, Bangalore and has been with the company for 7 years. He has been working in the Solaris, SunCluster and Distributed filesystems areas for the last 7 years. He is currently working on ZFS and PxFS of SunCluster and has been in the industry for 10 years. He regularly participates in customer interactions and University engagements and evangelizes Solaris.
- Moinak Ghosh
Moinak Ghosh works in the Solaris Sustaining Team in Sun's India Engineering Center at Bangalore, working on OS libraries, utilities, and also handling Security vulnerability issues. Apart from this he is involved with a variety of activities around OpenSolaris, including: driving the Bangalore OpenSolaris User Group, OpenSolaris projects and talks and some kernel hacking. He developed the now popular OpenSolaris community distribution called BeleniX more than a year back working entirely in his free time (http://www.belenix.org/). This is a community project maintained on volunteer effort. He has been in this industry for the past 10 years of which he spent 9 years working mostly on Solaris and sometimes on Linux. He worked at the Cisco Offshore development center at HCL Chennai on Networking Technologies prior to joining Sun.
- Peter Karlsson
Peter Karlsson is a Solaris Technology Evangelist who works with developers to adopt technologies delivered through the Solaris Operating Environment. Prior to joining the Evangelists, Peter had been working in the North/North-Eastern Europe sales support organization for five years. There he was senior product specialist focusing on Solaris Operating Environment and related technologies. Peter has also worked in the Sun MDE I/O-technologies and solutions, supporting third-party ISV's with device driver development.
