Startup Technopreneurs have had a tough time to market themselves, marketing budgets are always minimal, and so are the skills in sales and marketing, and nor they have the right contacts with decision makers. There is some good news for them, Read this blog by Caterina, a very interesting case study of emerging trends in Business Development, http://www.caterina.net/archive/000996.html
It took time for me to understand what actually Catrina was trying to convey in her post, but now I understand after seeing the related blog at:
http://avc.blogs.com/a_vc/2006/08/business_develo.html
Earlier I was thinking that its some website or some term, but later I came to know that biz-dev 2.0 was a word coined by Catrina, probably while writing her blog.
She tells how in current competitive world we should go ahead and build something and show it to clients instead of waiting for their emails.
Also we should use openly available APIs, RSS, web services etc to build on already available things and embed ourself to dominant players in the industry.
A good post indeed. So how and what should I try out??? Hummm, well if I try something on the lines of BizDev 2.0 and succeed, I will post a blog on ITVidya for sure.
Wish me luck...
