Cisco sues Apple for duplication

Cisco Systems Inc. said on Wednesday it sued Apple Inc. over its use of the iPhone trademark held by Cisco, a day after Apple unveiled a widely anticipated multimedia device of the same name.

The highly volatile shares of Apple, which was not immediately available for comment, initially fell 1.3 percent in after-hours trade following the announcement and then pared the loss to less than half a percent.

Cisco said it was seeking to prevent Apple from "infringing upon and deliberately copying and using" the trademark, which the network equipment maker obtained in 2000 after acquiring Infogear. Infogear had previously owned the trademark and had sold devices called iPhones for several years, it said.

The arrogance that is Steve Jopbs

I simply love this guy for the sheer air of arrogance he carries around his persona. I have never met him or even seen him , but the news that this guy creates is simply awesome !!

That said, Apple always considered itself a Pirate (just like MS). So it sould come as no surprise even if the IPR for the phone had been picked from the Chinese and Japnese markets.

And the clincher to this whole event is when I readu stuff like : Japan yawning at iPhone
Admittedly, I was as excited as anyone who saw the concept of iPhone. But now it seems just.... bleh !!!
