Facebook Opens Shop in Singapore [What's on mind?]
About a month ago Facebook opened its first Sales & Operations office at Hyderabad, India. And now on 12th April it has almost silently registered a local office at ACRA, Singapore. The second one in Asia. The question is why?

For a while now we have seen Facebook gain on Google in terms of usage statistics, and more recently overtake it as well (in the US atleast). In late 2009, it was named the most popular content sharing site. Yes..Facebook..Not Digg, Reddit or StumbleUpon! FaceBook is having it’s annual developer conference – f8 on 21st April 2010. And as expected there seems to be plenty of action and speculation in the build-up to it.

A recent report about social networking being the most vulnerable areas of the Internet for attacks seems to have prompted Facebook to collaborate with McAfee, a leading security solutions provider.
Under the terms of the deal, Mcafee will provide free subscription of its Internet Security Suite software to the Facebook users for six months. Apart from this, Mcafee will also provide an online tool that would look to scan and remove any potential threat that might be lurking around a non-suspecting Facebook user's computer.

Orkut Losing to Facebook in India

We earlier published data from Google trends depicting the fall of Orkut in India [against the rise of Facebook] and while the blip seemed like a momentary lapse of traffic for Orkut, the truth is that it is not.
A month later, Facebook is still going strong, while Orkut is heading southwards.
