Title: 50 years of Computing in India
Speaker: Prof Mathai Joseph
Speaker Profile :
Mathai Joseph did his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge, U.K., and joined the Computer Group of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in 1968. He was with the TIFR for 17 years during which he spent periods abroad as visiting faculty at Carnegie-Mellon University in the US and INRIA in France. He was appointed to a Chair in Computer Science at the University of Warwick in 1985 and remained there until 1997 when he moved to the Tata Research Development & Design Centre in Pune where he was the Executive Director until his retirement. His long-standing research interests have been in the application of mathematical methods for software engineering, in particular for real-time and fault-tolerant systems. He has written a number of papers and is the author/editor of several books. He now lives in Pune where he is an Advisor to Tata Consultancy Services.
