When we think we are indispensable and hold on to the seat we are ejected by force. I have utmost respect for Dr.Kurien of the Amul Cooperative movement as I am aware of the obstacles he has faced to make it work.
But little did I know a few weeks ago when I wrote this entry Amul, Ajanta and Samooha - 2 that Dr.Kurien would end up this way with the use of force by dissidents. With over 33 years of dedication Dr.Kurien might have had his own reasoning to hold on to the seat which he might have never properly sat on during the early days of establishing the cooperative.
The problem with we Indians is that we love to hold on to power than really making way for succession after a certain level of accomplishments.
The tremendous spirit of cooperative movement instilled by Dr. Kurien in the members and the way the cooperative created livelihood for several farmers is sure deserving for Dr.Kurien to be a candidate for Bharat Ratna but for the way he has been shown way due to merciless tactics of business tycoons and the second rung leadership within the cooperative.
I bow to you Dr. Kurien and you are my Bharat Ratna barring that I have a small complaint about your inabilty to sense that you grew older and failed to identify leaders for your succession.
3 cheers to a bickering India.
