Born in the village of Birganj, Nepal, and after doing his schooling from Dr. Grahams School in Kalimpong, Darjeeling, Mr. Jay did his graduation from S.I.E.S College, Mumbai. Barely out of college, he started his business in 1996, initially to get into the garment and footwear business by opening some franchisees Stores for brands like Colour Plus, Adidas, Nike, Weekender etc. But soon realized that he was not able to give the BEST to the customers. He then pondered & got into the idea of giving the best brands to the customer at the best prices under one roof. He can thus be considered as the pioneer of multi-branded discount chain. He conceptualized & set up the first THE LOOT store in mid 2004. The concept was well accepted & appreciated by both the customers & business associates. Soon there has been multiplication of the stores & The loot as on date has set up 25 stores (approximately 60000 sq. ft. retail carpet area) throughout the country.

Having worked closely with brands, he realized the need to bring in a lot of professionals on board. He went in full swing recruiting some of the best talents in retail. Mr. Jay believes that Life is always tuff, but one can make it easier by sharing ones dreams & then creating co-dreamers.
