First nanotech centre to be set up in Bangalore

The Karnataka State IT Secretary M N Vidyashankar said the State Government had just finalized two major initiatives in technology field. The first was the setting up of the country’s largest tech-park, the “Knowledge City” to come up on over 10,000 acres for which the deal was under finalization with developer DLF.
The Knowledge City would feature direct connectivity with the new international airport and house 13-14 SEZs. The other major initiative he announced was the setting up of India’s first Nanotechnology Centre, being mentored by well-known scientist Prof CNR Rao. An investment of Rs 500 crore was envisaged in setting up the Centre.
Vidyashankar was addressing the the inaugural funtion of Embedded Systems Conference, ESC India, opened in Bangalore today. Also present at the inauguration was West Bengal IT Minister Dr. Debesh Das, and president of the Indian Semiconductor Association, Poornima Shenoy.
