Google is no doubt the top Search Engine in the world. The revolution brought about by its founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page is commendable and unparalleled. Google has brought about a sea of change in the way web visitors search for information, and the way products and services are advertised online. Sharing its wealth through Adsense with everyone who associates with it is a notable boon. We all know, Google is in the process of expanding its operations and in this context is establishing many offshore centres, all over the globe. Google has its offshore centre in Hyderabad, run by young and dynamic professionals. There is no doubt about it.
Bitter Experience: One of Google's official consultant at Hyderabad contacted me, and requested me for a test, and this was for the position of AdWords Coordinator at Google's Hyderabad office. I took the written test, followed by an interview at their HiTec city premises, the end result was that I was rejected [after I had to call the consultant to know of my rejection]. The point of rejection is not the cause of concern, but what is questionable is the way Google-Hyderabad through their consultant went about with the whole process.
After the written test, the consultant asked me to send 15 scanned certificates [10th class to PG including my marks sheets] This is really unnecessary on the part of any HR to ask for Certificates, even before the interview is held. Getting 15 certificates scanned and sending them was an ordeal, it was totally un-necessary at that stage, and it wasted a lot of my time. Later, they called me for an interview. At the interview, it was mentioned that the interview is for AdWords Representative, which was against what Consultant told me [they said it is for AdWords Coordinator], and equally questions the need for scanned certificates.
Question: When Google calls a seasoned and experienced writer [myself with 7 years experience in online writing], for a test and an interview, isn't it not up to the HR reasoning that a relative position must be offered. Second, when the offer is for AdWords Coordinator, how can they modify the designation and change it to AdWords Representative at the interview. These are some lapses that reflect on the way Google Hyderabad's HR is working.
Suggestion: Better late than never. Clarity in rules and logical sense in recruitment is the key to corporate success. When Google takes the help of consultants, its HR must provide to them clear instructions regarding the job, and job expectations. Time and work are vitally important for either, and it is always better to understand to be understood.
