GSM operators add 6.3 mn subscribers in May

The GSM players managed to register a monthly growth rate of 3.32 percent for May 2008 as they added 6.2 million subscribers taking the total subscriber base to 205.4 million as compared to 198.8 million subscribers in April.

Bharti added 2.45 million new subscribers, Vodafone added 1.68 million, BSNL 0.3 million, Idea 1.1 million while Spice added 134,558.

Circlewise ‘B’ circle registered the highest growth rate at 3.57 percent with U.P. (E) witnessing the highest growth rate at 5.51 percent. Circle ‘A’ saw a growth rate of 3.13 percent while Metros grew by 2 percent.
