IIT Guwahati trio sweeps MOTOROLA Scholarship Competition.

Motorola today announced the top three winners of its MOTOFWRD scholarship college competition. The competition attracted future innovators, young visionaries and researchers from some of the finest educational institutions in the country. They depicted their vision of Seamless Mobility through words and / or visuals. The list of participating institutions included the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), Sir JJ School of Art, the National Institute of Design and other premier institutions of higher learning from across the country.

The competition received over 150 entries. Winning entries were selected by a panel of some of the most creative and forward-thinking minds in India : represented by Mr. Piyush Pandey, Group President & National Creative Director, Ogilvy & Mather, Mr. Kiran Karnik, President, National Association of Software & Services Companies (NASSCOM), Ms Preeti Vyas Giannetti, Chairperson & Chief Creative Officer, Vyas Giannetti Creatives Private Limited. Deloitte Haskins & Sells were the official best practices auditor for MOTOFWRD competition.

The winners are:

First Prize: 'No one needs a cellphone' – Dipto Dey, IIT, Guwahati.
A young research engineer from IIT Guwahati has envisaged a world where people will not need any cellphones to communicate. The electronic form of communication will be as natural as other human communications.

Second Prize: 'Vision for a seamless future' – Shiva Rama Krishna Jaini, IIT, Guwahati.
A student from design studies has envisioned interaction between humans and computers, presenting through an animation film, how seamless mobility touches upon and enriches life.

Third Prize : 'Seamless Mobility: beyond the curtain' – Abhishek Rawat, IIT Guwahati.
A signal processing student, through his fictional account, has described a world where 'life flows through time, like silk running through your hand' , the promise presented by seamless mobility.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Firdose Vandrevala, chairman, Motorola India and corporate vice president, Motorola Inc., said that "The range of ideas and quality of entries received in the competition speak of the depth of knowledge and creative energies of young minds in our colleges and universities. It also reinforces our belief in the research and development talent that India offers, and critical role that our Indian R&D centres can play in defining our future and the global technology initiatives of Motorola.

Winners to get Rs. 400,000 Scholarship, Apprenticeship with Motorola's Chief Technology Office.
