Innovation – India Inc Lip Service

In the recent events, the Apex body and the India IT Inc might have played well to the sentiments of the several young minds that could be aspiring to be innovators.

My last 3 years of humiliating journey in the path of innovative entrepreneurship has drawn more flak by the successful Indian IT entrepreneurs than it should have been encouraged morally more than monetarily.

I would rather swallow the “Visha” (venom) that has been spit on me so that the "Amritha" could flow to all young aspirants out there if at all the “Lip Service” converts to "Real Support".

I could be wrong from others' perspective but I say with conviction that Indians have a feeling of insecurity in their being Indian.

The recent Tom-Tom about innovation mantra for India has been true music to ears. But it is expressed neither out of passion nor for pride but simply for the reasons that there is an insecure feeling to lose out on the services model unless India innovates and there is enough money to acquire ideas by cash rich companies. This necessarily does not mean that the entrepreneur will be rewarded for what he/she is legitimately eligible. If the India Inc was so passionate and serious about innovation there should have been innovations 10 years ago as the Stalwarts have been shuttling between India and the US for the past 20 years and have prided about being loyal servants of Corporate America serving them the much needed “bill”able bodies.

True entrepreneurs will go all out to retain their identity and passionately innovate till they see results in their innovation and are accepted by the target for whom they set out on innovation path.

India has thousands and lacs of innovative minds which can be nurtured if they have a few other characteristics and abilities which if polished could convert them into truly innovative and successful entrepreneurs. But most importantly the entrepreneur should get due recognition and more importantly the equity he/she deserves.

The most visible draw back on the aspirant idea entrepreneurs' side is lack of commitment and the initial sacrifice they need to make to sustain persistently till they achieve some break-through in their innovation. The entrepreneur also need to be quite flexible to alter the idea in the midway during development stage if it does not really match the market expectation.

I would like to end with a positive note that even the Lip Service, if it had come at an auspicious time when all the Indian Gods in Heaven might have been listening and uttered “Tathastu”, would turn out to be in the favor of India!!
