To begin to craft database driven, PHP powered, commercial applications, the following needs to be installed, and then configured to communicate with each other in harmony on your hardware and OS of choice.
I'm not going to delve into what will be the best hardware platform, and I'm only going to refer to two operating systems:
Linux: (Any flavor, although I do have a weakness for RedHat/Open Core)
Windows: (Any flavor, although I'd like to stick to Windows XP)
My reason for doing this is that these operating systems are really the most commonly found on most computers. Hence, I'll stay in their space.
Each product i.e. Apache, MySQL and PHP can be downloaded from their respective home sites.
A real simple way to get to their home site URL's is to Google each word, which should lead you directly where you need to go.
There are really two kinds of files you can download. One is the source file for each product, the other is the executable file for each product.
I suggest the following:
For M.S. Windows: Download the appropriate executable
For Linux: Download the appropriate source file not the appropriate .rpm
Installation Process:
For really detailed information on how to install these files on either operating system (i.e. M.S. Windows or Linux) do go across to my website
www.ivanbayross.com.
From the menuitems on in the left most column, on the home page select
'E- Books'.
This will take you to a page where you can download really explicit instructions on how to install these files and configure them to work together in perfect harmony so that the framework for creating database driven, PHP empowered commercial applications will exist on your computer.
If you wish to have a video on how to install each of these applications on you computer do send me an Email at: ivan@ivanbayross.com I'll send you a link by Email from where you can download a video on thier installation.
Finally, if you found the material useful, or if you have some criticism do drop me an Email. I'd love to share your insights of this framework.
In my next post on this Blog, I'll delve into programming using this framework.
Do experiment, with the LAMP or WAMP framework. They are robust, production quality, programming frameworks on which to create commercial applications.
