Is ITVidya.com becoming Comfortably Numb ?

I have been an active member of ITVidya.com for the past one month or so. So maybe when I make the allegations I'm about to make I might receive a lot of flame and rebukes. But heck !!! thats exactly what I want to do.

For the past few days, I have been regularly visiting this site and found that some members have some excellent technical/industry blogs which are updated on a daily basis.

The content of these Blogs is so informative that I cannot help but visit all the related site, come back and comment on them. This, I feel, should be the essence of what ITVidya.com stands for ( as can be clearly discerned from the Vision Statements)

But I have noticed that apart from these daily bloggers, there is hardly any input from the 2500+ members who have signed up. Even for the comments that I have been adding, no one seems to respond (except only once).

Without interaction, the scope of Sharing becomes limited. Even the senior members like Nikhil and Kumar who have the maximum contributions do not comment or even respond to comments posted on their Blogs.

I now fear this might lead to stagnation of the portal. If after so many days of trying to make an active participation, one receives no interaction, it is easy to get discouraged away from this site.

We are geeks, people !! Lets have some difference of opinions, some flame wars... ANY sort of responsiveness !!! Maybe an addition of a forum might help ?

Being one of the youngest member of this community all I can do is make an humble request to all the daily frequenters of this site..... "RESPOND, INTERACT"

email alert for comments

Hi,

I think a simple yet effective solution to people not interacting by ways of comments and not responding to comments can be automatic email alerts to blog creator whenever someone leaves a comments.

I have even suggested this feature to ITvidya in past. Probably they are already working on it. I myself couldn't respond to comments on my previous blogs because I never knew there were any comments or not.

I needed to check my blogs again and again to see if there are any comments. This is not very pleasant way of remaining updated with your own blog.

Hey Raseel by the way do you have another photo of yours which you can use here?

Adding few forums would be great for interaction!

I made a suggestion to ITVidya about highlighting best posts of the week so that visitors could respond to them. Also having some dedicated forums to discuss a topic would make users more comfortable to spontaneously react.

Good or Bad we Indians should learn to interact with an effort to conclude positively on any issue :-)

Raseel, your concern itself is a strong pointer on how some of us feel about Openness and community participation in IT from Indian perspective. I am sure this apathy or lack of response would change but at its own pace!

I really appreciate the response from you !! Frankly, I had not expected it. I was hoping to cause a stir with the more active members of this community.
Well, nonetheless, I think I hear you clearly when you say the onus is on the innovators and early adopters.
