Note that ISO 17799 is to be renamed to ISO 27002. This is scheduled for April 2007: but don't hold your breath!

The ISO 17799 Directory you refer to above is therefore being transferred to The ISO 27002 and ISO 27001 Directory.

This is part of an overall ISO strategy to bring all security standards under the ISO 27000 umberella.

This could be a powerful differentiation strategy....

....for Indian companies.

As the outsourcing market matures, client companies will increasingly be looking for high value-add, rather than just low cost. In some situations, a company with ISO 17799 accreditation is likely to get the work in preference to one which does not.
