In our Samooha project we were looking at improving performance of boot-up time for our heavy Swing application :-)
Guess what, we just moved to Java 6 to see if things are different and we got a bonus of 20 percent additional speed to our application boot-up time!!
Looks like Java 6 has done a good job until at least we are hit with any other blocks in the near future.
I am glad that only early adopters and dare devil start-ups have the privilege to work with the latest and cutting edge stuff.
Another observation was that OpenJPA rocks in our scenario than Hibernate when used with Spring. So we bid farewell to our beloved Hibernate! Sorry Gavin, although I enjoyed your talk on Seam at Singapore JavaMeet I couldn't help prevent this move for a Desktop App :-)
Did any of the IT Vidya members had anything to add about Java 6 performance or OpenJPA? Appreciate any views, good or bad.
Cheers,
Rajesh
