WebTops : An Operating System inside the browser

Discovered this interesting project via TechMeme which claims to be the world's only open-source user-generated webtop where anyone can contribute right away like a wiki.

What is a webtop?

A webtop (also called "web desktop" or "web-OS") is a website that simulates an operating system inside your web browser. You can launch applications right away without installation (in a secure sandbox), and you can access your favorite applications and your personal data from any computer.

Software development made as easy as a wiki.

Simply right-click on any portion of an application to view the corresponding source code. Make some changes, click Save, and the application gets instantly updated on everyone's computer. No need to install a development environment. No need to go through time-consuming release cycles.

The current limitation is that it runs in Windows only, and not on Linux and Macs.

Ajay
