Linux on ipod

Hi Community,
I read some articles several months back about how linux can be installed on ipod.
Now i own a ipod video 30 GB and i didnt find any application for reading ebooks in pdf, etc on that device nor any tool to convert sppech to text( if i use a headphone with mic and speak into it), etc.Maybe screen size is not good for ebook reading.
I m interested in developing cool applications using Linux that run on ipod but i have very elementary knowledge of Linux.
So i m looking to work with people who wants to volunteer and brainstorm on various Linux applications we can build on ipod and those which have good commercial potential.
Also we can experiment with putting content on itunes for sale and a monthly podcast show on itunes provided we can team up with some functional experts and create good content.
