Even as Kumar reports of a successful Kick-off of Linux Asia 2007, sheer pandemonium has broken loose in the LUGD (Linux User Group, Delhi).
Why , you ask, is there noise for a Linux event by a Linux User group ? If you followed the above Linux Asia 2007 link, you probably wouldn't have asked this question.
Microsoft is one of the sponsors at the event. Oh yeah ! Microsoft is sponsoring, albiet partially, a Linux Event. They are calling themselves the "Interoperability Partners" now. There are even a couple of talks scheduled I hear.
This was the reason that ILUGD decided not to participate in this prestigious event. A Lot of the senior members from the India FOSS community like Kenneth Gonzalves , etc. also backed out because of the same reason.
However, some people are of the opinion that this much ado about nothing and they would attend an event even if it was sponsored by any "Rajvinder (or some such Punju name) da Dhaba".
What counts, they spake, is that the agenda is met.
Well, .... to each his own !!
To keep a track on what has been going on in the minds of the Delhi Luggers, some dude made a blog post of the mailing list on this thread, now infamously named as The MS Trojan Horse.
What do you guys think ? Was this fair enough ?
