Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) is proposing to set-up an IT Park and incubation centre at Mohali.

For this purpose, the organization is scouting for private developers to promote the project on a joint venture model.

According to highly placed officials, STPI proposes to construct on joint development basis, an incubation-cum-IT office space with suitable infrastructure for IT Industry at the Industrial Area, Phase VIII-A, Mohali.

The autonomous body is now scouting for private developers who have developed similar IT buildings/spaces to be a joint developers with STPI for promoting the one acre plot with four floors of 2500 square metre.

The joint developer will be responsible for funding the entire development with assistance from STPI, in a non-financial manner, in such development.

Moreover, the joint developer will have to give STPI, free of cost 45 per cent of the built-up space and will be free to use the balance for IT purposes in a manner that is consistent with regulatory norms and as would be further described in the request for proposals (RFP) to be issued later.

With the development successful, the IT park and incubation centre will be the first of its kind in Mohali, which is fast emerging as a preferred destination for IT companies, especially in the Tier-2 towns.
