Pour more "SaaS" in my Plate

It's official. It's accepted, screams the zdnet blog. Infoworld's article about SaaS [Software as a Service or Software applications delivered as service via Internet] makes Web 2.0 Evengelists like myself, jump out of seat and scream loud about the upcoming Wave. This Tsunami called "SaaS" will revolutionise the way we interact with the software applications. Post 80's saw the Desktop PC revolution. Mid 90's saw the dot.com / internet revolution and as a cycle, mid 00's will be the SaaS revolution.

For a CTO, SaaS is a no-brainer. Upload, integrate and run the application worldwide. No need for custom installations, no long implementation cycles, no operating system switchings and most imporatantly with SaaS, the portability of the applications are now easier. Our TracBac [in private user base] is based on similar model.Completely web-based, and the application is delivered via web, on use-as-you-go model. Your computer will be a part of the larger network as Jonathan says "The network is the computer"

Don't be disturbed by the recent IDC Report, which is a useless report for $3500, instead i would prefer to go with what Sadagopan, Infoworld and Phil Wainewright talks on where and how SaaS will go. From an Indian perspective, SaaS provides tremendous advantages, as few guys in a small garage in any part of India, can now actually create something the world requires. You don't need to be a Infy,Wipro,TCS to make the next revolution happening in the IT space. As a Web2.0 evengelist, I surely believe, that the time has come for us in India to develop cutting edge "Deliverable PRODUCTS" than merely doing servicing & maintainance jobs for worldwide companies. Join me in the race for making the second revolution in the IT happening over here as I am making a presentation about Web2.0 and the future lies for India. Finally, SaaS as a model will change the dominance of big desktop players like Microsoft, Adobe, Corel among others. The future is now just a browser away!
