Programming with Oracle Database

The upcoming Oracle Develop Conference looks at integrating various programming languages with Oracle, notably .Net, Java and PHP.

Various sessions at the event include

1. Getting started with Oracle and .NET

This entry-level session introduces Oracle's offerings for .NET programmers, including Oracle Data Provider for .NET, Oracle's high-performance ADO.NET 2.0 data provider. Also, learn about Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio .NET, and .NET Stored Procedures. Step-by-step demos illustrate how you can get started on using each of these free products.

2. Java EE 5 - An introduction to EJB 3.0 and JPA

Oracle Application Server 10g has complete support for EJB 3.0 and the Java Persistence API specifications. This hands-on lab helps attendees learn EJB 3.0 concepts and about the Java Persistence API and how to use them effectively in Oracle Application Server. This hands-on lab has two parts:The first introduces building persistence-tier applications by using EJB Java Persistence API domain modeling with EJB3 entities, object-relationship mapping, and using EntityManager API and JPQL queries. The second part covers building business logic with EJB and discusses EJB annotations, injection of resources, defining and using session, and lifecycle listeners.

3. Building Rich User Interfaces using JavaServer Faces and AJAX

With the introduction of AJAX and rich client programming methodologies in recent years, Web applications have gradually moved toward providing a much richer end user experience. Although it is an improvement for the user, the development of AJAX/rich client applications involves complicated use of JavaScript.

With JavaServer Faces, this complexity can be eliminated by encapsulation of this code into reusable JSF components.

This presentation begins by reviewing the architecture of AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) and then describes how AJAX and rich client programming can be simplified by encapsulation into reusable JSF UI components. It then shows Oracle's strategy for AJAX and rich client technologies by demonstrating Oracle ADF Faces' next-generation rich client components.

4. The PHP/Oracle Experience: Building for Scalability

This is an action-packed session introducing the PHP and Oracle experience and showing how to get the most performance and productivity as you scale up. The presentation discusses the PHP OCI8 extension used for easy-to-use, high-performance Oracle connectivity.
