Report on Innovations 2008
Last weekend on 5th and 6th Jan 2008, I got to spend quality time with various innovators and visitors at the Innovations 2008 event organized by IIT Bombay Alumni Association, Pune Chapter. ITVidya.com member Dhiraj Khot
was one of the organizers.
There were top quality 16 innovations showcased after filtering out several entries received from India and Overseas.
Some of the good technology related innovations I witnessed were
inotify : Innovative and cost effective Last mile connectivity by Mobien Technologies Private Limited , Innovator : Ajit Gokhale
iNotify is a system for two-way access to all business critical information for mobile users supported on lowest denominator mobile handsets. It enables highly economical, deep penetration of large spread-out branch networks and field workforce in FMCG, Pharma, Agro/Vet sectors.
Wireless Sensor Network Applications by Aginova Innovator : Dr. Ashok Sabata
Dr. Ashok showcased innovative low power wireless sensors that drastically reduce monitoring costs in agricultural, medical and industrial environments. They measure temperature, humidity and other environmental parameters reducing CAPEX and OPEX FOR A wide range of monitoring applications.
Map Based Local Information and Discussion Forum by Sadakmap.com Innovator : Unmesh S. Mayekar
Unmesh showcased Sadakmap.com which leverages Google maps in an interactive and collaborative environment - thus providing local relevance to small businesses and regional economies.
Ride sharing by KoolPool, Innovator : Joshua D'Souza
Mykoolpool.com is a low cost, easy and scalable SMS based system to enable sharing a ride. It provides a safe share-a-ride process and in turn achieves substantial fuel savings. Large single-location employers can reduce fuel consumption and parking investments considerably and can even help earn carbon credits.
It was a pleasure to meet Joshua after several years, we had met randomly over ICQ and we had then organized a trek of all our friends on ICQ.
Also, Unmesh thanked ITVidya.com for notifying about the event in the first place. Credit goes to Imran for putting all the events to track and update on ITVidya.com
It was also good to see quite a few other members of ITVidya.com attending the event. Full marks to Shridhar Shukla, Founder and Managing Director of Great Software Laboratory Pvt. Ltd. ( gslab.com ) , Ajay Phatak, CEO, Jopassana Software and Systems Ltd. , Dhiraj Khot , CEO, August Technologies Pvt. Ltd. and other team members who worked hard to put together this fantastic event for innovators such that they can attract money, market, publicity and mentoring.

Thanks ITVidya
Hi Ajay,
It was nice running into you at the event. Like I said, I heard about Innovations 2008 from an event reminder sent by your site - that set the ball rolling for us (SadakMap.com). Besides the audience Q&A and special panelists talks, the most we benefited was from the user interaction at our stall. We got to learn a lot about their concerns and what they would like to see on our site. Innovations 2008 turned out to be a very professionally run event thanks to a lot of hard work put in by the likes of Dhiraj, Dr. Kane, Dr. Shukla, etc. Special thanks goes to Persistent for allowing the use of their premises and an impressive auditorium. I would greatly encourage all aspiring entrepreneurs to submit their entries for the next annual event - the process should start somewhere towards the end of this year.
