SIX SIGMA PROJECTS

Six Sigma concepts is being considered …as a strategic management approach for better future, commitment from top level corporations, who are conscious for better tomorrow, and make landmark at market place, outwitting their competitor.

Huge amount is been investment in training, initiate projects. Many process owners have claimed that Six Sigma is yet to take off, as many projects are available, but managing them is a major task.

1 Is Identification of projects is the end?
2 How resources, capability, and commitment are considered?
3 Is a benchmark is targeted for projects to be in pipeline …awaiting for consideration and execution ?
4 Competitive Target.. that to measurable established to achieve benefit from this projects?

Most of them consider projects which provide breakthrough improvement. To drive efforts positively for improvement with facts for better presentation. Due consideration is given for proper utilization of valuable and expensive resource, with productivity to save money not only during execution of projects , but obtain huge financial benefits through breakthrough improvement at the end of project.

But is in practical real environment , are the results are achieved to the planning ?

Hugh qualified resource like green belts , black belts , and application of tools like DMAIC, AVOVA, T-Test , SPC …costly softwares with time frame for improvement , monitoring , and consideration for ultimate project completion to satisfaction of both management and six sigma teams. To achieve extended approval to proceed for next project with similar investment .
As the time frame is not meet , both six sigma teams , and management loose excitement over period of time, and very change management principles at work, shall get worse ….because gap between expectation …and results is increased.

Is this a lacuna ….during selection of projects, targets or goals of six sigma implementation, or creative thinking is lost with time of execution, due to pressure from top management for high expectations , Return on investment , and intellectual engagement of employees in other aspects of organization , ignoring the very six sigma goals …with time frame . .

Suppose we want to reduce the turn over by 10 percentage, we should go by facts of study …of performance apprialsal , organization policy , exit interview, to concentrate of areas of problematic to reduce,

But management use intuitions to achieve results in short terms, by making decisions,

where are tools used , areas of improvement identified , job satisfaction level studied, and application of standard DMAIC principle to get in areas of monitoring and controlling over period of time.

Also the sustain of improvement continuously added over period to make it part of working on daily basis ..through change management.

It is to be kept in mind six sigma is never ending road ..that leads to continous improvemnt journey to outwit other in compitition to occupy more market share , customer satisfaction , and benifit tranfer to ultimate customer...
