Web2.0awards.org

Couple of weeks back some 300 Web 2.0 websites were reviewed in about 38 categories, and winners were announced. I have tried a few of them including travbuddy, writely, deliciious, basecamp, linkedin, myspace, technorati, yousendit, housingmaps, gabbr.com , flickr, myspace, rollyo...all very great ideas and applications, and am tempted to try all of them.

It was good to see our member Anand Chhatpar's BrainReactions.net get a honorable mention, hopefully we will have many more contributions from India in the next year nominations. I can see Narain's Tracbac getting mentioned next year, also Veer Bothra is working on MyToday which is highly promising with its idea. We at ITVidya will also aim to be running for global recognition by next year.

Manthan-AIF Award 2006 for Best e-Content & Creativity : www.manthanaward.com

Dear Colleagues,

I feel immensely pleased in making “Manthan-AIF Award 2006 for Best e-Content Practices” public.

Manthan-AIF Award 2006 (www.manthanaward.com) is now open for nominations.

As many of you are aware by now and after going through the details of 2005 Manthan Awardees at www.manthanaward.com, you must have come to know that many awardees have gone international, and received wide spread recognition through various platforms like the World Summit Award (WSA), World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) and thereby affected a multiplier impact in the process. My sincere acknowledgement goes to the media fraternity in carrying forward the names of the Manthan Awardees and their diligent works across the length and breadth of the country and the world.

*Maya Academy for Advanced Cinematics (MAAC) wins dual awards at FICCI BAF Awards 2006*

It is really great to see Indian students achieving so much with their talent in a international competition.

A team of student animators from Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics Ltd (MAAC), one of India's leading Animation and Visual Effects training academy won the Best Student Animation Film- Social Welfare Award at the FICCI BAF Awards 2006 held in Mumbai. The film that won the award, titled 'Takes You Higher?' dealt with the social message of anti-smoking. The other two films nominated in Social Welfare Award category: ' Just the last puff' and 'Fusion' were also from MAAC, thus students from MAAC swept all nomination slots in this award category.

The Best Bloggers in India

India Uncut is the Best Indiblog at the Indibloggies 2005. Amit Varma, author of India Uncut and a Mumbai based journalist is a maverick of quick posts and anything that starts with a "C", cows and cricket for instance. He not only bagged 25% of the votes cast for the category but also has the distinction to bag 225 votes, the highest number of votes bagged by any blog/site in this competition (yes, we know that voting for this category was mandatory but we are talking statistics here) and emerged a clear winner.
