Samooha finds takers in Singapore

rajesh's picture

It was generally a hectic trip to Singapore and I found it to be quite satisfying. Samooha seems to have caught up attention there and a couple of larger implementations that will take off soon will get the platform further acceptance in the higher mid-segment of the enterprise while we continue to build a better "networked Business Operating System" for Small Enterprises.

PLAY AT WORK

“Success happens from the inside out.” - Jeanne Sharbuno

Most of us, according to Jeanne Sharbuno, live from the outside in. She is correct. Most of us would like to make as much money and worldly possessions as possible and then would plan to relax. As it is said, there are three things that God did not understand after creating human beings:

1. They spent half of their life earning at the cost of their health and they spent the entire earning to regain the lost health.

Business Integration via Open Source

mirowais's picture

Business integration software has long been the exclusive playground of proprietary closed source vendors.

But a new open source startup called Jitterbit is hoping to change the landscape a bit with its newly released Jitterbit 1.0 platform.

Jitterbit's self-named business integration software enables users, on either Windows or Linux, to integrate and connect data from diverse applications, whether they're CRM, ERP, data warehouse or other data stores.

The data can be connected via XML or any number of other different protocols, including SOAP, ODBC , HTTP and FTP.

The Business Integration software space is full of large enterprise vendors such as IBM, webMethods, Tibco and even Microsoft. Jitterbit isn't necessarily going after the large enterprises though.

SAAS 2.0 : 7 Key Trends

mirowais's picture

Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) is one of the most compelling and challenging IT and business innovations of the past two decades. Not surprisingly, SaaS is generating tremendous interest, heated debate, and a broad spectrum of opinion regarding its impact on users and vendors.

A new study from Saugatuck Technology, SaaS 2.0: Software-as-a-Service as Next-Gen Business Platform, shows that SaaS is at a fundamental "tipping point" between the current generation of software functionality delivered as a cost-effective service - or "SaaS 1.0" - and the emerging generation of blended software, infrastructure, and business services arrayed across multiple usage and delivery platforms and business models or "SaaS 2.0."

Disruptive Innovation

Thanks Ajay for the introduction and inviting me to post an entry here for IT Vidya readers about Prof. Clayton M. Christensen and his upcoming seminar on Disruptive Innovation in Mumbai and Delhi. Instead of directly describing Prof. Christensen’s work and what to look for in this seminar, let me take a step back and create some context in which to evaluate them:

The World of Theory Making

Thank you, CRN, not all is lost when it comes to Press/Media reporting!

rajesh's picture

http://www.crn-india.com/breakingnews/stories/62831.html

Even while I am complaining of my distorted view about the Indian media I am surprised to see this news release made by the company I represent, through an open release which is again our policy of "take it or leave it" for the press, being picked up by CRN India!

Seems like not everything is lost in reporting something good without being paid for or getting the story by throwing a cocktail dinner. When there are not better breaking news, the unbreaking news becomes breaking!! Many thanks to CRN and Jasubhai Media for having taken and reproduced it (never mind even if its after a month after the release). I stumbled on it through a web search.

Great ebook for creating web-based businesses

anand's picture

The folks at 37signals.com have released a book that encompasses their business philosophy that is very innovative and agile. The book is called Getting Real and is available at http://gettingreal.37signals.com It is a fairly quick read and is easy-to-read even for the non-technical readers.

This current month's issue of BusinessWeek also has a feature on 37signals and their approach to go from concept to released product in 3 and a half-months or less. I am a big advocate of their philosophy because it can be a great mantra for Indian IT start-ups. The book professes a low-cost and lean approach to starting up that enables you to move quickly and engage customers early. Other key points in the book include the technique of being customer-centric in your product design and starting at the market-end, not at the engineering-end. They also list pitfalls that web-application-developing entrepreneurs commonly run into, and suggest how those can be avoided.
