A project to implement one ERP (enterprise resource planning) system across 11 non-profit healthcare organizations in the island-state is underway.

Dubbed "IngoT", the project will eliminate duplicated records and provide a 20 percent increase in productivity, serving some 46 doctors and 716 nurses from the organizations.

Funded in large part by local charitable organization, the Lien Foundation, "IngoT" began at the start of 2007 and is targeted for completion by the end of 2008.

Fibre2fashion.com had initiated a beta service called Software Solution that can help software buyers and software providers get connected in a more efficient manner. This site has been out of beta recently. The site combines news, articles & events aggregation, commentary from industry experts, user-generated content, case-studies, articles, product show-case, etc.

The (universal) problem:
It is always amazing to see the enterprises of today, jumping into an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system without really analyzing their own understanding about an ERP or even worse what their business needs are. Most of the times SMEs tend to be over-confident and expect that their ERP should do everything for them.

The reality:

I was wondering how to express my excitement about Sun's recent announcement about Java! Our efforts to find facts seem to be paying off! Recently, I personally came across a very interesting Technical Paper written by Researchers at a Technical University in Germany. Unfortunately, it is just a paper and I was not able to find anything in concrete form that can be evaluated as an offering.

This finding makes it a good reference to discuss during the Seminar on 19th May

What a way to spend the long weekend with a fact finding mission for the sake of Vishwa Samooha?

It's my earnest request to all the Indian IT professionals to share this information with local businesses and if possible also spare some time to educate the emerging businesses to manage their operations through a minimal process based ERP.

While I am yet to watch Rang De, I had some time to look at Amir's own production Mangal Pandey and as a Social Studies enthusiast in school I can vouch that the revolution being called for is bound to be futile and the consequences could lead for another few decades of wound-licking for us, Indians.

A new report from AMR Research shows that half of ERP licenses remain unused, but the same report also shows that users are planning to spend more on ERP over the next 12 months.
