Google on Tuesday slipped its Voice service onto iPhones by using the Web to sidestep Apple's rejection of mini-program to be given away free at the App Store.
"Today we are launching a new Google Voice mobile web app for iPhone OS 3.0 and higher and Palm Web OS devices," Google engineer Michael van Ouwerkerk said in a blog post.
Google is using "HTML5" technology that allows data-rich applications to run quickly in Web browsers, according to the engineer.

Google has a funny little blog post today on the Gmail Blog. Apparently, they’ve decided to change the way they’re serving advertisements in Gmail. Why? They say it’s in the name of serving ads that are more relevant to users. But really, it’s fairly obvious that it’s about serving ads that will bring in more money.

Apple, Microsoft eye replacing Google on iPhone
Apple Inc is talking to Microsoft Corp about stepping in as the default search engine on the iPhone, replacing Google Inc, according to report on Bloomberg's web site. Talks between Microsoft and Apple have been going on for weeks, Bloomberg said, citing two people familiar with the matter. The story noted that the negotiations may not conclude quickly and might still fall apart.

Google, seeking to wrest consumers from Apple and Research In Motion, is poised to unveil a mobile phone that uses its Android software at a press event on Tuesday, analysts said. The Nexus One phone probably will be sold directly by the company as well as through a wireless carrier, said Charles Golvin, an analyst with Forrester Research Inc. in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The company said last month that it was testing an Android phone internally.
