Another search engine is brought into the internet. This time it's different. This is a unique video search engine, ScienceHack which indexes all the videos related to science. Currently, it indexes the fields of science related to Physics, Chemistry, Space. They are currently working to include Geology, Psychology, Robotics and Computer videos and may be coming soon.
A team of scientists screens the video and approves to be included in their index based on accuracy and quality. Their site is designed using PHP and MySql. This search engine doesn't host videos, they just index the videos from popular video sites like YouTube and MetaCafe. You can also help them by submitting videos to their database.
Affirming the tremendous significance of video on the internet, and the stupendous skyrocketing success of Youtube's offering, Google acquired Youtube for a all stock deal of $1.65 billion.
Youtube hosts over 100 million videos with nearly 2500+ videos uploaded every hour , or close to one every second. Youtube has over 20 million unique visitors a day.
We will wait and watch how this impacts the future of Google, when almost 70% of all acquisitions don't bring much success.

Portal Wars: Google, Yahoo and APPLE!
Google, Yahoo and MSN continue to duke it out in search. Yahoo and Google are putting intense efforts to role out video and other multimedia search properties. Yahoo has invested heavily in a southern California operation to bolster its media efforts and Google Video plows ahead.
However, in my view, the real horse to watch is Apple. Yes, Apple, maker of the Ipod. Apple completely groks the new genres of media and how today's consumers want to buy and enjoy media. They were the first to understand that if you unbundle music from the album/CD format and make it easy to purchase, users would buy and not steal. They then took it one step further and added podcasts, yet another modern genre of audio entertainment.
