Your profile on Facebook may become a cause of worry when looking for a job, as employers are increasingly checking on networking sitesto know more about the people they intend to recruit, a new study claims.

The survey has found that one in 10 were refused job for boasting about drinking and drugs online.

Facebook has said that it is blocking a website called "Web 2.0 Suicide Machine" that helps users delete their social network profiles.The number one social network also said it had sent a "cease-and-desist" letter to another website, Seppukoo.com, which also helps you kill off your virtual identity. The Web 2.0 Suicide Machine site, which features a hangman's noose on its homepage, deletes profiles, friends and other information on Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and LinkedIn for users who provide their account information.

A few weeks back, Mark Zuckerberg , Facebook’s founder, made a few changes to the privacy settings in his profile on the social networking site.What he did was fairly simple . Facebook essentially allows its users to chose their level of privacy, by deciding whether they want to restrict access to their ‘friends’ , ‘friends of friends’ or ‘everyone’. Zuckerberg chose the option ‘everyone’, allowing hundreds of people access to his personal information, which was earlier restricted only to his friends.

Corporate employees on an average spend 60 minutes on social networking sites like Orkut and Facebook in office hours, leading to loss of productivity, a survey said."Close to 12.5% of productivity of human resource in corporate sector is misappropriated each day since a vast majority of them while away their time accessing social networking sites during office hours," industry body Assocham said in a survey.
