Today's misguided youth and IT - Part 2

I am putting across some of the HOT HOT !!!! careers that will rule the next decade of IT...I think and certainly feel

1. Networking
2. Programming
3. Designing and Content
4. Management

Let me take on the 1st ---- Networking.

People with relevant knowledge in the networking domain, consider networking certifications in CCNA, MSCE, RHCE and the rest i'll not mention.

However, what people do not understand is that just doing a certification will probably help them get a footing in the door way of networking.

Confusion in what certifications to be done have been asked a million times in a million boards.... but i have not seen any relevant solutions being discussed.

So let me try and provide a clear understanding ....

Firstly, a good understanding of the subject and then implementation is a requirement.

For eg. if someone says i have an MCSE certification, the next question wud be, How can i connect my local domain with my internet domain and have all users authenticate with just 1 username and password. Unfortunately no one has been able to answer this question to a satisfactory level till date !!!!

It sounds very strange, but this is the reality. Reason --- bad training or just paper tigers !!!

Hence it is very important that one has to get a decent exposure to a practical environment where these problems can be tested.

Actually we in India are still good followers, and not practitioners. We never look at anything from the problems point of view. We only look at the fastest and the cheapest solution !!!! Hence Bill Gates makes us work in India and earns $s in the US :-).....

However, all people out there who are looking into making a career in networking, welcome aboard ----- This is the evergreen industry where you will only mature with time, just like old wine in an old bottle....
