At the upcoming eINDIA2007 event (www.eINDIA.net.in), the annual mega-conference on ICT4D, the organizers are launching India's first film festival focusing on the impact of ICT4D.
The unique feature of the film festival which separates it from other film festivals is its focus on the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for Development. The actual issues could span a range of topics such as poverty alleviation, conflict management, egovernance, education, healthcare, farming; to explore the impact of ICTs on these areas. Such as, videos being made by deprived, illiterate rural women which gives them a voice to tell their stories at an equal platform with other more erudite groups. Or documentaries on the impact of electronic land record systems which are being rolled out throughout India on the lives of the farmers. These are just a couple of examples, the film festival hope to recieve a large spectrum of ideas.
