NASSCOM announced the winners of the NASSCOM Global Leadership Awards 2007. The Awards, conceptualized and presented by NASSCOM, seek to applaud the mega corporations that have transformed, not just the international business scenario, but also impacted the Indian economy and contributed to its growth. The winners will be felicitated by Mr. Kapil Sibbal, Honorable Union Minister for Science and Technology and Ocean Development, Government of India at an awards ceremony today evening in Mumbai on the sidelines of the NASSCOM 2007 India Leadership Forum.
I had a pleasure to meet Prof. Amartya Sen in person today and got to hear his future project on a book on Reasons of Justice. Prof. Amartya Sen has won the Nobel Prize in Economics, Bharat Ratna ( highest honour awarded by President of India ) and several other award. He has also been presented with The Nasscom Global Indian Award for his pioneering work in areas of human development theory, welfare economics, social choice and several other thought provoking articles and books.
NASSCOM, the premier trade body and voice of the software and services industry in India and The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) today announced that they are conducting a joint study titled ‘Developing an Innovation Ecosystem in the Indian IT Industry’. The study is aimed at addressing some gaps that exist in the Indian ecosystem for making innovation flourish and realize its true potential. A series of workshops and roundtables involving stakeholders of an Indian innovation ecosystem are being conducted during the course of the study to iterate findings and take inputs from the various stakeholders before publishing the final set of recommendations. The first workshop of this series is being conducted on February 8, 2007 on the sidelines of the NASSCOM 2007 India Leadership Forum.
NASSCOM the premier trade body and the “voice” of the Indian IT industry announced the finalists for the NASSCOM Innovation in Awards 2006. From a shortlist of eighteen companies, seven finalists will be felicitated and recognised for their outstanding contribution by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Manmohan Singh at the upcoming NASSCOM 2007 India Leadership Forum.
IT innovation is slowly gathering momentum in India. As global customers and giant ICT companies outsource their core product development and R&D work to the country and as its service providers make “out-of the-box” services a key differentiator, an ecosystem of innovation is getting built in India.
I am glad to be participating in Nasscom 2007, India Leadership Forum being held at Mumbai, India from 7-9 February 2007. The annual of Nasscom seems to be growing in size, scale and participation with each passing year. Shri Thiru Dayanidhi Maran, Hon'ble Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Govt. of India, inaugurated the event and his keynote session was folled by Prof. Amartya Sen, Nobel Award Winner.
