Dear Friends,
Would like to share some interesting things about Firefox-Web Browser with you all.
What's new in Firefox Web Browser ?
Why use Firefox ?
And many lot's of questions...
I hope so that the following information would help you to know better, Why Firefox ?
The plug-ins give you souped-up functionality, better look and feel, and streamlined development tasks. There are some pain cool.20 of the best extensions and add-ins used and recommended by hardcore Web surfers, developers and IT pros.
Mozilla Corp. will relaunch its popular Firefox add-on site Monday by culling the several thousand extensions listed for its open-source browser to just a couple of hundred.
The move is part of a general overhaul of the add-on site, which will also feature more support for international users and new tools for user-to-user discussions.
But it's the thinning of the add-on herd that may raise eyebrows. "We're trying to tighten up the extensions, especially for new first-time users," said Mike Shaver, Mozilla's technology strategist.
Mozilla has reportedly released security updates for versions 1.5.x and 2.0.x of its Firefox Web browser, as also for its Thunderbird mail client and its SeaMonkey program suite that includes a chat client and a Web site building tool.
Most of the security updates are labeled "critical" by Mozilla.
In a statement, the company said, "As part of the Firefox 2.0.0.1 and 1.5.0.9 update releases, we fixed several bugs to improve the stability of the product. Some of these were crashes that showed evidence of memory corruption, and we presume that at least some of these could be exploited to run arbitrary code with enough effort."
The latest round of updates fixes flaws in Mozilla products such as problems with RSS feeds, as also in the way in which JavaScript is used in email.
Besides, users of Thunderbird are advised to disable JavaScript so as to prevent unauthorized code from affecting their systems.
The new updates also fix the way in which the browser renders graphics on certain Web sites, plus the way in which it renders custom cursors through CSS or Cascading Style Sheets.
While Microsoft's Internet Explorer remains the dominant browser client, leaving Mozilla to own at best - a mere 10 percent of the browser market; Mozilla's Firefox is steadily gaining currency as the more secure and stable browser of the two.
Plus, if at all, hackers are switching loyalties in favor of Firefox, Mozilla, to its credit, is inviting people who've found any Mozilla-related security vulnerability to instantaneously report it by sending email at security@mozilla.org.
Nintendo has partnered with Opera Software to make Opera the official Web browser for the Wii game console, and to provide a free trial version of the Opera Web browser.
In a joint statement, both companies said that Wii owners who are connected and have activated the Wii Shop Channel, could download a free beta version of the Opera browser to begin surfing the Web from tomorrow.
It is learnt that when Wii users download Opera, it will activate the 'Internet Channel' on the Wii, and allow them to use the console to browse the Internet on their television, using the motion-sensitive controller to move a cursor, as a mouse does on a PC.
Besides, the browser, which is Abode Flash-enabled, actually facilitates Internet on television screens, allowing users to browse with ease and visit Web sites. The pointing abilities of the Wii Remote is an added attraction, with which users can click on links they want to see, or zoom into any part of the screen through the motion of the controller.
Talking about the latest addition, Reggie Fils-Aime, President of Nintendo America, said this newest Wii Menu channel provides yet another feature to draw non-gamers in. All kinds of people already have discovered that Wii is like nothing they have ever tried before, and that their red-hot sales reflect this public enthusiasm.
Adding to it, Scott Hedrick, Executive Vice President for Devices, Opera Software, said that their software brings the power and reach of the Internet to the hottest video game system available. Wii's unique interface adds a new dimension to their browser, making it a useful tool that the whole family can enjoy operating with ease."
The final version of the Opera browser will be available at the end of March 2007, and will be free for all Wii owners to download through the end of June 2007.
After June, users who haven't already downloaded the Opera browser can go to the Wii Shop Channel to download it for 500 Wii Points or $5(Rs 225 approx).
