While we are disappointed with the decision of the BIS LITD 15 committee, we are very encouraged by the

support of IT industry players like NASSCOM, TCS, Wipro and Infosys who voted in favor of Open XML becoming an ISO standard. Further, the Indian government, industry stalwarts and trade bodies have supported multiple standards and technology neutrality.

Underlining the increasing usage of Open XML formats in application development, Intrasphere Technologies, a leading life sciences consulting firm; and MS Technology, a digital imaging & document management solutions company, have developed solutions specific to customer needs based on Open XML schemas.

Developers in Intrasphere used Open XML to develop PharmaCM – which supports structured content management and can be configured to support clinical trial registries and drug labeling.
